TWENTYNINE PALMS – A 43-year-old Twentynine Palms man is wanted for the attempted kidnapping of a 14-year-old girl. On Thursday afternoon just before 3:00 p.m. the Morongo Basin Station deputies responded to Twentynine Palms Highway to investigate a possible attempted kidnapping.
When deputies arrived they learned that Freddie Day asked the juvenile if she could help him to jump-start his quad. The girl told him that she was unable to and that there was no one else at her home. She watched as he walked away and went into her home. She went into her bedroom and turned around to find Day standing behind her inside her home. When he saw she noticed his presence, he said that he could have raped and killed her. He grabbed her from behind, but the juvenile in fear of grabbed him by the throat causing him to release her.
She went to the kitchen to grab a knife as Day fled eastbound through the desert. Neighbors were interviewed and confirmed that Day was in their neighborhood, but despite an extensive area check deputies were unable to located him.
Anyone with information related to the investigation, or the whereabouts of Freddie Day, is asked to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Morongo Basin Station at (760)366-4175. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may contact We-Tip at 1-888-78-CRIME or www.wetip.com
