TWENTYNINE PALMS – A Twentynine Palms mother was arrested after attempting to kill herself and two daughters by crashing her vehicle this morning.
On Thursday, September 27, 2018, at 6:30 a.m., Cindy Thao Vang, 31, left her home at the base housing on the 29 Palms Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center with her 6 and 9-year-old daughters. When they left the base, she allegedly attempted to kill herself and the two girls by intentionally crashing her vehicle near the 4000 block of Morongo Road. After crashing, Cindy Vang and her 6-year-old daughter lost consciousness.
At around 7:00 a.m. a 9-1-1 call was made by the 9-year-old girl stating that her mother tried to kill all three of them in the collision. An ambulance responded to the scene and transported Cindy Vang and the 6-year-old daughter to a local hospital. The child has been released to her father. Cindy Vang was arrested and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail for Attempted Murder. She is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
Special Agents from Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS) and investigators from the Marine Corps Criminal Investigative Division (CID) responded and assisted deputies in the investigation.
