APPLE VALLEY – Two Apple Valley men were arrested for stealing an air conditioner from an Apple Valley home.
On Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at around 8:47 a.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Station were dispatched to the 24000 block of Cuyama Road in the Town of Apple Valley for the report of an air conditioner that had just occurred. When they arrived they learned that the reporting party witnessed the two male suspects stealing an air conditioner unit from a home where an elderly female resident was not home. The witness saw the suspects who were later identified as Eddie Ray Johnson, 47, and Kenny Michael Huson, 30, walking around the home and touching the air conditioner unit.
The two men drove away from the home and the witness noticed that the air conditioner was gone. The witness was able to obtain the license plate number of the 1999 maroon-colored Chevy Suburban that the two suspects were driving. The information was provided to the deputy along with the suspect descriptions. The deputy went to the home that the vehicle was registered to in the 13200 block of Yakima Road in Apple Valley. At the home they located the suspect vehicle, the stolen air conditioner and both suspects. Both suspects were arrested for Grand Theft and Conspiracy and were booked into the High Desert Detention Center. They are being held in lieu of $50,000 each.
“These suspects were apprehended with the assistance of a community member who was watching out for their neighbors,” Apple Valley Sheriff’s officials said. “This witness did a great job by providing deputies with pertinent information, while still staying a safe distance away and not jeopardizing their own safety.”
