The San Bernardino County Fire All Hazard Regional Incident Management Team (IMT) said on Sunday that two firefighters have tested positive for COVID-19.
The two firefighters self-quarantined when they began having flu-like symptoms. Since then, on Sunday, March 29, 2020, the COVID-19 tests for both firefighters came back positive. These two firefighters are the first two in San Bernardino County to test positive to-date. The two work for different agencies within the county, one for the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District and the other for the Montclair Fire Department. The two firefighters are remaining in isolation and are doing well.
San Bernardino County Regional All Hazard IMT has been planning for the possibility of exposure and infection to first responders and they are assuring the public that they are fully staffed and are able to respond to emergencies.
