PHELAN – Two reports with obvious similarities landed a Phelan man behind bars on Thursday. Deputy Molly Leiker from the Victor Valley Station responded to a vacant home in the 4300 block of Phelan Road on Tuesday, January 24, 2016, to conduct a check. When checking, she located several household items inside of the home that appeared as though they were recently brought to the home authorities said.
The following day, Deputy Leiker responded to the report of a residential burglary that the owners reported took place sometime between Friday, January 20, 2017, and that day. Deputy Leiker took the report and while doing so she realized that the items reported stolen were similar in description as the ones that she saw the day before.
Deputy Leiker returned the stolen property found at the vacant home to the property owner. Through investigation, deputies learned that Rogelio Hermosillo, 43, was in the process of moving the stolen property into the home. He arrested in the was booked into the High Desert Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
