VICTORVILLE – Two Victorville residents were arrested for extortion after making financial demands to an undisclosed company.
Authorities said that on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, the victim reported the extortion to their business to the Victor Valley station. The reporting party said that Christopher Henry, 36, was a former employee of their business. Henry, and his girlfriend, 35-year-old Robyn Hardy were making financial demands from the company.
Henry and Hardy told the business that if the demands were not met in the given amount of time, they would expose the company for alleged criminal misconduct on Social Media sites. On January 25, 2017, a posting was made via social media saying the business was running a “sexual predator” company.
The following day, after investigating the report, a deputy from the Victor Valley station served a search warrant and arrest warrant at the suspect residence in the 10500 block of Sierra Road in the City of Victorville. During the investigation, investigating deputies were able to locate evidence linking the two to the extortion. Also located at the location was John Hardy, 59, who is not believed to be involved in the extortion case, but had a warrant for his arrest.
Henry and Hardy were arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Extortion and Conspiracy. They are being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and are scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Monday, January 30, 2017.
