Vehicle Theft Arrest Made After Residents Report the Suspicious Vehicle

RIVERSIDE – On Thursday morning Riverside police responded to a call reporting a suspicious vehicle that was occupied by an unknown male subject in the area of Kirkmichael Circle and Lochmoor Drive. The report was made at approximately 5:50 a.m. stating that the occupants had been parked in the Sycamore Canyon Park neighborhood sleeping inside the vehicle all night.

As officers approached the location, dispatchers collected the vehicle license plate number, which came back to a stolen vehicle. When they arrived they located the stolen vehicle occupied by both a male and a female, who were both detained. Officers searched the vehicle, locating items consistent with identity theft.  

Officers learned that the male occupant, identified as 27-year-old Moreno Valley resident, Glenn Schaal had prior auto theft convictions. Through investigation, it was learned that the female party was not involved in the theft of the vehicle. Schaal was arrested and booked into jail for  auto theft with priors, identify theft and drug violations.
