VICTORVILLE, Ca. – A pedestrian was struck and killed on Hesperia Road on Wednesday evening authorities said.
At around 5:48 p.m. deputies responded to the report of a traffic collision between a whiteNissan Frontier and a pedestrian. When deputies arrived in the area of Hesperia Road between C and D Streets they located the pickup truck and a pedestrian suffering from major injuries. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene of the collision and did not sustain any injuries as a result of the collision.
Deputies were able to determine that the Nissan was driving north on Hesperia Road and the pedestrian was on the east curb. It is unknown why, but the pedestrian stepped out into the path of the Nissan. Deputies were the first to arrive at the scene and provided life-saving measures. The pedestrian was rushed to the hospital where the pedestrian was pronounced deceased.
Investigators are continuing the investigation into the cause of the collision. Hesperia Road, north of C Street and south of D Street, was closed in both directions for several hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses.
