VICTORVILLE – A Victorville man lost his life as a result of a two-vehicle traffic collision on Air Expressway and Phantom West on Saturday afternoon. At around 2:12 p.m. deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to a 911 call reporting the collision.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials located 30-year-old Cornell McCarns, who was pronounced dead at the scene at around 2:25 p.m.
Authorities said that McCarns was driving a Ford Mustang and turning east on Air Expressway from Phantom West. As he made the turn, his vehicle was struck by a westbound traveling Ford Explorer.
The male driver of the Explorer and the female passenger of the Mustang both were transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center. The male was transported by ground, while the female sustained more serious injuries and was airlifted.
McCarns’ family is seeking financial assistance from the community to help with the unexpected funeral expenses, they have started a Go Fund Me Account in order to collect these funds.
The collision remains under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
