DESERT CENTER – One died and two were injured after a traffic collision Monday, November 21, 2016, traffic collision on the I-10 in Desert Center. At around 9:45 a.m. a 73-year-old Arizona man was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze westbound on the 10 freeway west of Frontage Road. For reasons that remain under investigation, the vehicle drifted off the left side of the road, down a dirt and rock embankment and overturned onto its left side. The vehicle sustained major damage.
A 94-year-old female passenger, also from Arizona, died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver, and his 65-year-old female passenger, an Arizona resident were transported to the hospital with moderate injuries. The collision remains under investigation. CHP officials said that the two passengers did not appear to have seatbelts on at the time of the collision.
