FONTANA – A 4-year-old Fontana boy was nearly kidnapped on Friday authorities said. Officers from the Fontana Police Department responded to the 7600 block of Tamarind for the report of the attempted kidnapping.

Through investigation, officers learned that the child was briefly left unattended in the front yard of his home when his mother heard the gate open. She looked out to see her child walking away with a Hispanic man. She called for her son causing the suspect to flee the scene leaving the child behind.

The child said that the suspect described as 5’10”-6’0” tall and 150-160 pounds asked if his parents were home. He then asked the child to walk him to his vehicle, which was parked nearby. The suspect was last seen in a dark-colored t-shirt and dark-colored cargo shorts.
