YERMO – Two died and two were injured as a result of a 15 freeway crash on Monday CHP officials said. At around 6:39 a.m. an Audi and Lexus were driving northbound on the 15 freeway north of Minneola Road, the Audi in the #1 lane and the Lexus in the #2 lane. The Lexus was just ahead of the Audi when for reasons that remain under investigation, the Audi changed lanes colliding into the left rear of the Lexus.
The Lexus lost control and overturned into the desert, east of the freeway. The occupants inside the Audi, a mother, and her toddler were not injured as a result of the crash. The driver and passenger, a 48-year-old couple from La Palma, California died at the scene of the collision. The two juvenile backseat passengers, the children of the couple suffered from moderate to major injuries and were airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center for treatment.
CHP officer Adam Carmichall said that alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision.
