ADELANTO – With the November elections quickly approaching, the City of Adelanto officials want to help local voters become aware of what Measure R entails. In order to do so, a Town Hall meeting will be held on October 13, 2016, at 6:30 p.m.
This special meeting will be held at Adelanto Stadium; formerly known as Heritage Field (or Mavericks Stadium). Interested parties should attend the meeting, where there will be a presentation on the benefits of medical cannabis. There will also be time for potential voters to ask questions to help decide if Measure R is something they will be supporting or not.
The City of Adelanto is hoping that the voters will support the tax, which will only affect businesses in the cultivation, manufacturing, distribution/transportation, testing and dispensing of marijuana. The city believes that this may help ease the financial crisis that has been no stranger to the small city. “This meeting will allow supporters and opponents to voice concerns and question a panel of experts,” said City Manager Cindy Herrera.
Reservations are not required, refreshments will be served, and the public is not only welcome, but encouraged to attend.
