BARSTOW, Ca. – Rumors have spread about the presence of the Coronavirus (COVIS-19) in Barstow. The rumors spread through social media, faster than the virus itself; or so it seems. As a result of the hysteria caused by the unsubstantiated rumor, city officials have looked into the rumor and verified that as of Thursday, March 5, 2019, at 3:45 p.m. there have been no cases of COVID-19, or patients presenting symptoms identified in the area. The city officials ensured that they would remain in close contact with Barstow Community Hospital to continue monitoring and will remain transparent with the community.
The County of San Bernardino, as of March 5, 2020, at 3:45 pm. That there is no immediate threat to the county. No special precautions are required but they recommend practicing good public hygiene. “People should not be excluded from activities based on their race, country of origin, or recent travel if they do not have symptoms of respiratory illness. All San Bernardino County residents and visitors should continue to engage in regular activities and practice good public health hygiene as this is the height of flu season across the country.
