VICTORVILLE, Calif. – The City of Victorville has announced the closure of Civic Drive from Seneca Road to Ramona Avenue for the Delta Sigma Theta’s Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.
The street will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019. The event will include the annual peace march, which will begin at the corner of Civic Drive and Seneca Road at 10:00 a.m. The peace march will conclude at the corner of Civic Drive and Ramona Avenue.
The ceremony hosted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will follow the peace March. City officials said that the City of Victorville will recognize Penelope Trylch, the winner of the annual Civil Rights Memorial Essay Contest.
“Penelope will read her winning essay; and the City will unveil a bronze plaque honoring the subject of Penelope’s essay, Harriet Tubman,” said Victorville officials said. “Detours will be in place. Motorists are advised to obey all posted traffic signs and devices and to use caution when traveling in the vicinity of this road closure.”
Motorists should plan alternate routes for their travel during this road closure and allow additional time for their commute.
