ANAHEIM – Orange County officials announced this week that the homeless individuals when were camped out along the Santa Ana River Trail have been relocated.
The sheriff’s department provided notice along with resources to the homeless individuals camped out in the area and as of 2:00 p.m. on Monday all of those between Ball Road in the City of Anaheim and Memory Lane in the City of Orange voluntarily left the area. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department will actively enforce trespassing laws and will provide high-visibility patrol in the area.Throughout the months leading up to the transition, several county agencies including the Sheriff’s Department joined in the effort to assist the homeless while clearing the area.
The closure of the area was done without any arrests for trespassing. All of the homeless in the area were provided with information and support in order to benefit from services which would help them become self-sufficient. This clearance of the Santa Ana River Trail area makes way for restoration and the environmental remediation project to restore the area to its intended purpose.
