HEMET, Ca. – A man and his two small children died during a fire in the City of Hemet on Friday morning.
At around 1:07 a.m. , the City of Hemet Fire and Police Department personnel responded to the Olive Apartments located at 150 N. Alessandro Street in response to a structure fire. When they arrived at the 25-unit, two-story structure they noticed fire coming from the northeast side of the complex. Most of the residents had already evacuated their apartment homes, but one woman who said the apartment started in her home indicated that after evacuating their infant and 11-year-old child, her husband went back in to rescue their other three children; ages 12, 8, and 4-years-old.
Fire personnel went straight to the apartment and located the deceased man and three juveniles, all of who were rushed to the hospital. Two of the three children, a 4-year-old girl and 12-year-old girl died as a result of their injuries. The 8-year-old male child remains in grave condition after being airlifted to UCI Medical Center in the City of Orange. The identities of those deceased are not being released at this time.
The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Sgt. Gabriel Gomez at (951) 765-2396.
