LOS ANGELES – Two Los Angeles Police Department officers were sentenced on Monday to 25 years in prison for the rape of four women between 2008 and 2011.
District Attorney’s officials said that the two former officers, James Nichols, 46, and Luis Valenzuela, 45, both pleaded no contest to two counts each of forcible rape and oral copulation. Both Valenzuela and Nichols were sentenced following the plea and will both also be required to register as sex offenders for the rest of their lives.
The two partners assaulted the women, who were 19-34-years-old, all involved in narcotics-related investigations in different locations. Information in court revealed that one partner would be a lookout while the other raped the victim in the police vehicle. While some of the woman were forced, the others were coerced with the threat of jail if they did not perform the sexual acts.
