Recently Paroled Man Arrested for Attacking a Senior Citizen

SAN BERNARDINO – A 34-year-old San Bernardino man was arrested after attacking an older male victim Saturday morning. At 11:54 a.m. the victim called 911 to report Antonio Martinez Tellez had just attempted to stab him in the face at his home in the 24600 block of 6th Street in the City of San Bernardino.

The victim was at his door when he was overpowered by Tellez who ran after him again attempting to stab the victim in the face. The unnamed victim ran into his bedroom and called 911 from his cell phone. Tellez ran from the victim’s home. When deputies arrived the victim was able to provide some information that helped identify the suspect.

Tellez was located around one block from the victim’s home in the front yard of a home and was arrested without incident. Tellez, who according to authorities has an extensive violent criminal history was recently released on parole for an Assault with a deadly weapon.

He was booked into the Central Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, elder abuse and for the violation of parole. He is being held in lieu of $125,000 and is scheduled to appear at the San Bernardino Superior Court Wednesday afternoon.

“Residents are encouraged to be aware of their surroundings in their neighborhood,” San Bernardine County Sheriff’s Officials said in a news release. “They should keep their doors and windows secure at all times and call the police when suspicious subjects are near their home.”
