HESPERIA – A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after a traffic collision on Thursday evening. At around 5:00 p.m. deputies from the Hesperia station and emergency medical personnel responded to Seventh Avenue and Orange Street for a traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a Chevrolet Avalanche. The initial report indicated that the rider of the motorcycle was down and unconscious.
When emergency medical personnel arrived they found the adult male rider of the motorcycle lying on the roadway suffering from extensive injuries. The female driver of the Avalanche remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision. Deputies learned that the Avalanche was driving north on Seventh Avenue, when she attended to make a left-hand turn onto Orange Street she struck the rider on the 2016 Suzuki who was traveling southbound on Seventh Avenue, crossing Orange. The rider was ejected from his motorcycle, leaving him unconscious.
He was rushed to Desert Valley Hospital in a ground ambulance and was subsequently airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Avalanche cooperated with the investigation.
The Hesperia Station Traffic Division is conducting the investigation and anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact Deputy Eric Getts or Sergeant Doug Hubbard from the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station at (760) 947-1500.
