HIGHLAND – One man was killed after being ejected from a vehicle Sunday morning, officials said. At around 3:55 a.m. on July 24, 2016, the driver of a red 2000 Ford F150 pickup truck, identified as 25-year-old Yucaipa resident, Julio Cruz lost control of the vehicle. The truck went off the roadway, rolling into a wash on the south side of Green Spot Road.
Gilbert Sanchez, 27 of Yucaipa was ejected from the vehicle. All of the occupants, including 21-year-old Yucaipa resident, Osvaldo Sanchez were transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center for the treatment of injuries. Sanchez, who was ejected, died as a result of his injuries while in the emergency room.
The collision remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Alcohol and speed have not been ruled out at this time.
