BARSTOW – A 26-year-old male pedestrian was struck and left injured in the roadway by the driver of a silver SUV authorities said.
At 2:13 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2017, Barstow Police responded to a call reporting a man down in the roadway in the 1600 block of East Main Street. When police arrived, they found a male subject identified as Jose A. Correa, of Ashland, WI. in the westbound lanes. Through investigation, they learned that Correa was struck by a vehicle and sustained major injuries. He was airlifted to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The Barstow Police Department’s Detective Division assumed the investigation. Video evidence captured Correa attempting to cross the street from the south side of East Main Street to the north side of East Main Street. While crossing, Correa was struck by the silver SUV believed to be an older model Chevrolet Tahoe that failed to stop. The SUV headed westbound on East Main Street. The vehicle is believed to have collision damage on the front and left side of the vehicle.
