FONTANA, Calif. – A runaway dog escaped his Rancho Cucamonga yard and headed to the Metrolink Station in Rancho Cucamonga this morning.
Fontana Police officials said that the dog, later identified as “Sausage”, a Beagle Bassett Hound mix left his home, and at around 9:00 a.m. boarded a train headed to Fontana. Metrolink security workers reported the unaccompanied dog’s train boarding. Rain soaked “Sausage” had an uneventful free train ride to Fontana, where a Fontana Animal Service officer met him. Immediately, the animal service officer checked for a microchip, which identified his owners, who he was able to be reunited with.
His family was surprised to hear of his adventure. “It should be noted that Sausage was given a stern warning about not paying the train toll,” Fontana Police officials said.
