RIVERSIDE– A vehicle theft suspect was arrested shortly after the Wednesday morning theft. The incident was reported at around 8:00 a.m. in the 3800 block of Tyler Street. An officer quickly spotted the stolen vehicle and called for backup. The suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Robert Pena of Riverside, left the vehicle near Hedrick and Jones Avenues. He fled on foot through the backyard of several homes.
An assisting officer located and detained Pena near Wells Avenue. The vehicle owner was able to identify Pena as the person who took his vehicle. Pena was arrested and booked into jail for parole violations, auto theft, and possession of a controlled substance.
