SAN BERNARDINO – A 28-year-old deputy from the Special Enforcement Division was injured late Tuesday morning when he was accidentally shot.
At around 10:00 a.m., during a regular training at the Sheriff’s Training Center in the City of San Bernardino deputies were doing tactical movement exercises. As one of the deputies attempted to re-holstered his handgun, the weapon discharged.
The deputy suffered a gunshot wound to his lower extremities. The deputy was treated at the scene by two tactical medics who were involved in the training exercise.
The injured deputy was airlifted to a trauma center where he remains in stable condition. An investigation into the cause of the discharge will be conducted.
