JOSHUA TREE – A 24-year-old San Bernardino County Deputy was arrested on Friday evening for engaging in sexual activity with inmates at the Morongo Jail, officials said. On July 1st information received by the Sheriff’s Department immediately sparked an investigation.
Through investigation detectives from the Specialized Investigation Division learned that Brian Derryberry, a 2010 Yucaipa High School graduate, had sexual contact with numerous female inmates housed at the jail.
Derryberry was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Sexual Activity with a Confined Consenting Adult and Oral Copulation with a Confined Consenting Adult. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. He is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on Tuesday afternoon at the Victorville Superior Court.
Derryberry was a member of the Sheriff’s Department since April 2014 and was married in December 2014. His latest assignment being at the Morongo Station, officials said. Derryberry is no longer employed by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
