HIGHLAND, Calif. – A 16-year-old Rialto boy was killed and two other’s were injured at a Highland house party on Friday night.
At around 11:19 p.m. deputies responded to a home in the 7500 block of Weaver Street after numerous reports were made of shots heard. When they arrived they learned that a large party with around 200 people was held at the home when shots were fired. Witnesses also said that three people at the party were injured and were being transported to the hospital by people at the party.
The 16-year-old boy was transported by a private party when they flagged down an ambulance continued transporting him to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A 22-year-old man was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A 16-year-old Rialto girl was treated and released from the hospital with a graze wound.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. Through investigation, they learned that the large party was advertised on social media, leading to the large turnout. During the party, witnesses reported to detectives that there was a verbal altercation between several subjects, then shots were fired.
No additional information is being released at this time. Updates will be issued as new information becomes available for release.
