Two Arrested for Leaving a 4-year-old Girl Home Alone

MORONGO BASIN – Two were arrested for felony child endangerment for leaving a 4-year-old girl home alone officials said. On Tuesday evening deputies responded to the home in the 6900 block of Hill View in Joshua Tree for the report of a child crying. The child told the reporting party that she was home alone. A friend of the child’s mother stood with the child outside of the home until deputies arrived.

While the deputies were there, the mother of the child arrived home and told the deputies that 26-year-old Jamichael Bowie and 47-year-old, William Catlett, both from Joshua Tree agreed to watch the child while she went to Walmart. Both Bowie and Catlett returned to the home and according to authorities blamed each other for the child being left home alone and said they left the home first asking the other to watch the child.

The child was not injured and Bowie and Catlett were arrested for Felony Child Endangerment. Both were booked into the Morongo Basin Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. Bowie is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday afternoon and Catlett was released Thursday morning and has no appearances scheduled according to jail records.
