VICTORVILLE, Calif. – The long-awaited median curb and reconfiguration of left turn pockets on Palmdale Road is set to begin soon.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin the safety operation on State Route 18 (SR-18) in the City of Victorville from Cobalt Road to US-395. The project will cost approximately $15 million, and is expected to enhance safety by helping to reduce or eliminate cross-median collision, officials said. The project is set to begin the first week of May and work will be done Monday-Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Motorists should plan for delays throughout the work zone and should use alternate routes whenever possible. “During the project, traffic will be re-directed by shifting lanes to one side of SR-18 to keep lanes fluid in both directions,” Victorville City officials said. Caltrans will attempt to mitigate impacts to business access points as much as possible and businesses will remain open.
The project is expected to be complete in the summer of 2020. City officials said that weather conditions may affect the completions date of this project.
