PALM SPRINGS – The Palm Springs Police responded to the report of a dead body located on the Lykken Hiking Trail on Thursday evening. At around 7:08 p.m. officers arrived at the scene to investigate the finding in the area near Mesquite Avenue, west of South Palm Canyon Drive.
The deceased person was determined to be a woman in her late 50’s who was found five minutes up from the trailhead authorities said. There are no suspicious circumstances found and the investigation was turned over to the Riverside County Coroner’s office who will determine the cause of death and release the name of the woman.
The Palm Springs Police Department Search and Rescue Team are also on scene to assist with the recovery of the body.
