YUCAIPA, Calif. – A Yucaipa father was arrested on Saturday for the murder of his 6-month-old daughter.
On Saturday, February 16, 2019, at around 11:44 a.m., emergency medical personnel and Yucaipa deputies responded to the 35000 block of Persimmon Avenue in Yucaipa for a medical aid call. The reporting party reported that the 6-month-old girl was not breathing. When the first deputy arrived he attempted to resuscitate the baby girl while they wanted for medical aid to arrive. The baby was rushed to Loma Linda University Medical Center where lifesaving treatment was continued until the baby girl was pronounced dead at 6:41 p.m.
Detectives with the Crimes Against Children and Homicide Detail conducted an investigation leading to the arrest of Alfonso Ornelas, 28, of Yucaipa, who is the baby’s father. Ornales was arrested for the Assault on a child causing great bodily injury/death and Murder of the small baby girl.
