PINON HILLS – The 20-year-old father of 2-month-old twins was arrested for their abuse after both infants were found to have fractures.
On Friday, June 29, 2018, one of the female twins was transported from St. Mary’s Medical Center in the Town of Apple Valley to Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) after St. Mary’s medical staff found that she had a broken leg. When the infant got to LLUMC she was examined by forensic pediatricians who found additional fractures on the body of the infant. Being that the injuries were consistent with child abuse, Children and Family Services (CFS) was called to the scene to aid in the investigation and take custody of both of the twins. The second infant girl was also examined and was also found to have fractures. Both infant twins were admitted to LLUMC.
Following the investigation, the children’s father, Anthony Gutierrez, of Pinon Hills, was arrested for Willful Cruelty to a Child on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at around 11:15 a.m. According to arrest records, on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at around 10:40 p.m. Gutierrez was released on $100,000 bail. Future court dates for Gutierrez are pending at this time.
