HESPERIA – A Hesperia mother who was arrested in February, several months after her 2-year-old daughter was found to be extremely Undernourished and neglected was convicted and sentenced last week.
Authorities said that Chelsea Marie Price, 25, took her child to an appointment at her pediatrician’s office on October 31, 2017. While there the doctor determined that the child was very thin and malnourished. The child was transferred to Loma Linda University Medical Center, and Forensic Pediatricians determined her condition resulted from severe neglect and undernourishment. Months of investigation led to the arrest of Price who was charged with felony child abuse. Price pleaded not guilty at the Victorville Superior Court on February 14, 2018, but changed her plea to guilty weeks later on March 6, 2018.
Price was sentenced to 1 year in jail, with credit for 27 days of time served. She will be eligible for conduct credit and may be released as early as August 2018. In addition to the jail sentence, Price will be on formal probation for four years.
