Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision Kills 19-year-old Moreno Valley Woman
RIVERSIDE – A 19-year-old Moreno woman lost her life as a result of a hit-and-run traffic collision on Friday morning. At around 5:50 p.m. a late-model Nissan Sentra was driving west on Magnolia Avenue. As the driver entered the intersection at Tyler Street on a green light, a white full-size van failed to stop at the red light and broadsided the Nissan. The force caused the Nissan to collide into an electrical pole in the center median of Magnolia Avenue just west of Tyler Street.
When emergency personnel arrived they determined that the woman was dead on arrival. The identity of the woman will be released pending notification of next of kin.
A witness told authorities that following the collision, the van continued south on Tyler Street. The witness followed the suspect vehicle while calling the police and was able to provide a license plate prior to losing sight of the vehicle near Indiana Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard. Authorities are seeking the public’s help to locate the white full-size van with a license plate of 5XGN087. The license plate is registered to a 2001 Dodge van.
The investigation is ongoing, anyone with information on the vehicle, occupants or driver of the suspect vehicle is urged to call Detective K. Madsen at (951) 826-8723.
