PALMDALE, Calif. – A major traffic collision on Pearblossom Highway in the City of Palmdale killed three men, officials said.
The traffic collision occurred at around 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, between 60th and 70th Street East. The circumstances are still being investigated at this time but alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor, Sheriff’s officials said. Through preliminary investigation it was determined that a Nissan truck occupied by three males was driving south on Pearblossom Highway and collided with a semi-tractor truck that was traveling northbound. The force of the collision caused the semi truck’s cabin to erupt in flames, officials said.
The California Highway Patrol and LA County Fire Department responded as well as Palmdale Station deputies. Two of the three adult male occupants of the Nissan were pronounced deceased at the scene. The third was rushed to the hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. The driver of the semi-trailer truck was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. .
“At this time, it appears the Nissan truck veered into oncoming traffic, resulting in the collision,” sheriff’s officials said in a news release.
