LANCASTER, Calif. – A man was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison for the murder of his wife that occurred in their Lake Los Angeles home in February 2018.
Los Angeles County District Attorney officials said that Michael Daniel Mayberry, 37, and his wife, Sandy Mayberry, 28, were involved in a verbal altercation on February 25, 2018. Their four children and Michael Daniel Mayberry’s mother were both inside the home. During the argument, she told him that she was going to leave him as she began to walk out of the house. He shot her in the back four times, she crawled out onto the front yard of the home and he shot her one last time in her head.
On February 25, 2019, exactly one year after the murder a jury convicted Michael Daniel Mayberry of one felony count each of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. The deliberation lasted only around an hour. In addition, the jury found true the allegation that Michael Daniel Mayberry used a firearm; a handgun, causing death to Sandy Mayberry.
