PHELAN, Calif – The man who attacked a Victor Valley Transit (VVTA) driver in December 2018 was located in San Diego and arrested for the assault.
On December 21, 2018, the suspect, now identified as Howard Brock Davis, a 25 year-old, transient, got onto a the VVTA bus at Phelan and Buttemere Roads in Phelan. Davis did not put the correct fare in the machine, and the 68-year-old bus driver asked him to pay the necessary amount. Davis became irate, yelling and threatening the driver. The driver refused to drive away and called his supervisor for assistance.
The suspect, angered by the situation got into the driver’s face and continued yelling and pushed the driver out the open door and onto the ground outside. Davis then got out of the bus and punched the driver in the face 6-8 times causing serious facial and head injuries.
A four-month long investigation led to the identification of Davis and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was found to be a sex registrant and listed as a Hesperia-area transient. He was located living on the streets in San Diego.
On May 23rd Howard Brock Davis was arrested by San Diego Police Department and booked at West Valley Detention Center where he is currently being held in lieu of $100,000. bail.
